Sigwatch is a slightly sinister online tool that tracks NGO campaigns from the corporate perspective. In their own words, “SIGWATCH tracks NGO campaigns and the emerging issues driven by activists nationally and globally so our customers can stay ahead of reputational problems and market liabilities.” The image above shows a snapshot of some of the ‘intelligence’ they have gathered.
There’s some uplifting and depressing things about this. The good news is that it shows that advocacy focused on corporates and consumers is working. If you work on any of the issues above, you should feel good about this! The depressing bit is the pricing; clearly there’s a lot of money to be made in packaging and selling this info to corporates. It’s worth poking around it even though it’s paywalled – even the sample information is useful and shows the kinds of things corporations are watching.
