Resource of the month: UK Gov Digital Service’s guide to content design

The UK Government’s Digital Services department always puts out incredibly useful and well-designed resources, and their guide to content design is no exception. It’s full of highly sensible and practical advice about how to write effectively for the web, with valuable background information about how people read and consume content online. I really like the case they make for still using Plain English even when you’re writing for a professional / expert audience.

It’s a great resource to send to any colleagues who are working on new content for your website, or on improving existing content.

Digital Charity Lab also has a free 2 page guide to web content and formatting, that you can print and use as a handy desk reference.
